4 Tips to Start your Dental Blog

Mar 11th, 2010 | Category: Ideas to Market Your Dental Practice

Today’s websites make blogging easier than ever. But before you venture into the blogosphere to promote your dental practice, here are a few tips you can use to ensure your blog becomes a true practice-building tool.

1. Define your goals. Like any other marketing tool, you need to have an understanding of what you hope to achieve. Do you want to use your blog to attract new dental patients? To keep current patients informed about new services and incentives? To gain referrals from healthcare providers or other sources? Understanding your goals, and your target audience, can help you determine the information you’ll be posting on your blog.

2. Make it worthwhile. Make sure your blog has something of interest – and of value – to offer your audience. Post information about new services, new staff, new office hours, and any incentives your dental practice may be participating in, to keep readers returning again and again.

3. Keep it user-friendly. Unlike the content on your practice’s website, blog content is written in a more casual voice. Keep it friendly and encourage your readers to post comments and ask questions, or offer an email link at the end of each post so readers can contact you or your staff.

4. Update, update, update. Make sure you’re committed to keeping your blog updated often – experts recommend three to five times a week. For best results, make it part of a staff member’s regular duties.

Blogging can be a great practice-building tool. Just be certain to approach it like any other dental marketing effort to ensure you get the most you can from your site.
